The name Kaweka has been provided by a Marutuahu kaumatua and refers to the ridge of the hill and references the proximity of the site to the maunga Ōwairaka. The development has incorporated volcanic rock and a colour palette which are a feature in the design and landscaping.

Kaweka is due for completion in October and will include 44 apartments comprised of studio, 1 bed, and 2 bed units along with 34 carparks and bike storage for 39 bikes. In partnership with Ka Uruora, 20 units will be affordable rental with a prioritisation for uri members of iwi who are investors into Hāpai Housing and/or Ka Uruora, and Hāpai whānau more broadly.
